Ethical down: what the certifications actually mean
DOWNPASS, OEKO-TEX® and NOMITE®, what each one covers, and what to ask a brand.
Animal welfare in the supply chain
The two things to rule out are live-plucking and force-feeding. DOWNPASS audits supply chains against those practices and traces down back to the farm. If a brand cannot name its standard, treat that as the answer.
Chemical safety
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 tests every component of a product, fabric, filling, thread, against limits for harmful substances. For children's bedding this is the baseline, not a bonus.
Allergies
The NOMITE® seal marks down and feather bedding as suitable for people with house-dust-mite allergies. Densely woven cotton covers give mites little to live on, and washable bedding lets you keep it that way.
Where our down comes from
We use certified premium European goose down from animal-welfare-focused supply chains, with independent laboratory testing, and every product is finished in our own manufactory in Germany.
