Down Care & Maintenance
Down is one of nature’s small wonders; exceptionally light and wonderfully warm. Each individual cluster traps air to provide natural insulation and protect against the cold. To preserve this comfort for many years, our products deserve thoughtful and gentle care..
Daily Fluffing
A gentle shake in the morning is all it takes to restore the down to its natural shape. This allows it to regain its loft, trap fresh air, and maintain its soft, insulating fullness.
Fresh Air
Down needs room to breathe. After getting up, leave pillows and duvets uncovered for a while and air them regularly by an open window or on a balcony.
Just avoid moisture, fog, or direct sunlight. Too much heat can make down dry and brittle.
Gentle Wash
When washing, use only a mild detergent or a detergent specifically designed for down, and avoid fabric softener entirely. Gentle cycles and moderate temperatures help protect the down’s natural oils — an essential factor in maintaining its longevity.
Important: Ensure Complete Drying
After washing, down must be dried completely. The best way to do this is in a tumble dryer with plenty of space. Dryer balls or clean tennis balls help restore the loft and ensure the down is evenly distributed.
Pause the cycle occasionally to shake the item gently, allow it to cool, and repeat the process until every cluster is fully dry and light as air.
Alternatively, you can have your down products professionally cleaned. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, make sure you choose a cleaner that specialises in high-quality down items.
As a general guide, cleaning large duvets typically costs between €40 and €60, while smaller duvets (135 × 200 cm) usually range from €30 to €50.
Professionell Cleaning
Note: Washing down pillows, down jackets, or other down products without using a tumble dryer is generally not recommended. Air-drying can be time-consuming and difficult, and there is a significant risk that the down may clump permanently.
